The Chartered Institute of Logistics & Supply Chain Nigeria
Have questions? We have answers. Find the information you need about membership, applications, and benefits below.
We are a registered professional body in Nigeria, with our head office in Lagos. Our purpose is to set the standard for the logistics and supply chain profession by examining, certifying, and supporting professionals across all related disciplines, from procurement and warehousing to transport and shipping.
Yes. Our institute is established under the Chartered-ship House Bill No. 1453, 2018. The certification is highly respected across Nigeria’s key industries, including Oil & Gas, Manufacturing, Shipping, and the Public Sector, as a benchmark of professional excellence and competence.
The primary benefit is professional recognition. Becoming chartered validates your experience and skills, allowing you to use prestigious post-nominals (like MCILSCM or FCILSCM) after your name. This enhances your credibility, boosts your career profile, and opens doors to promotions and leadership opportunities.
Direct Membership is our premier pathway for experienced professionals. It allows you to gain chartered status based on an assessment of your Knowledge, Skill, and Experience (K.S.E.), rather than traditional academic examinations.
No. This is the key advantage of the Direct Membership route. For working professionals with verifiable experience, no further examinations are required. Your career achievements are your qualification.
Yes. We welcome applicants from diverse academic backgrounds. Our assessment focuses on your practical, hands-on experience in a relevant supply chain or logistics role. As long as you meet the minimum years of experience, you are eligible.
Relevant experience includes specialist or management roles in areas such as Purchasing and Procurement, Warehousing, Stores Management, Logistics, Transport and Distribution, Import/Export, Shipping, Materials Management, and Operations Control.
Your level is determined by your years of relevant work experience.
Associate (ACILSCM): 1 – 5 years
Full Member (MCILSCM): 5 – 10 years
Fellow (FCILSCM): 15+ years
Doctoral Fellow (Dr. FCILSCM): 20+ years
Once all your documents are submitted, the assessment by our Certification Board typically takes 1-3 working days. Given the proximity of the induction date, applications are currently being prioritized.
You will need to submit a current Curriculum Vitae (CV), copies of your academic and/or professional certificates, and any other documents that serve as proof of your work experience.
The Physical Induction is a formal, in-person ceremony held in Lagos, which provides excellent networking opportunities. The Online Induction is a live, virtual event for those who cannot attend in person. The Chartered Status and certificate you receive are identical and hold the same high value and authority, regardless of the induction method.
Post-nominals are the letters a member is entitled to use after their name to signify their professional standing and membership level (e.g., John Doe, MCILSCM). Using them is a key benefit of being chartered.
In addition to your chartered status, all members from Associate level and above receive one specialized certification from a list of 16 options (e.g., Chartered Master Warehouse Manager™, Master Procurement Manager™). This allows you to showcase expertise in a specific domain.
Yes. We encourage continuous growth. As you gain more years of senior-level experience or earn higher qualifications, you can apply to upgrade your membership to the next level (e.g., from Full Member to Fellow).
